xwave partners with Targeted Learning Corporation to build a web-based distance learning & delivery management system

2006.01.01

Targeted Learning Corporation (TLC) is a leading provider of employee development training at all staff levels. Through The Leadership Development Channel™, TLC delivers both live and asynchronous training that features interactive programs with renowned business leaders. The company serves a diverse range of clients, with the common denominator being the development of exceptional leaders, managers, coaches and collaborators.

Business Challenge
TLC was receiving increasing demand for a web-based Learning Management System (LMS), a tool vital to success in today's distance-learning market. However, the limited capability of the company's existing website could not properly support an LMS. In addition, there wasn't the flexibility to provide clients with user-specific content— thereby limiting TLC's ability to offer clients customized packages at varying service levels. TLC decided it needed to both enhance the website's functionality, and update its design to accommodate changes in corporate branding and marketing collateral.

xwave's Solution
xwave began by developing an information architecture used to create a prototype website; the purpose of this was to firmly establish TLC's desired functionality, and the needs of users. Within two weeks, the prototype had become the blueprint for the final site. Throughout this process, xwave maintained a steady focus on a seamless transition, and a new site that would improve TLC's operations and act as a springboard for new services and future growth.

Strategic Client Benefits
•  A much wider range of training packages for TLC's clients and, as a result, a significantly broadened client base.
•  Decreased operational costs through database-driven content management: TLC administrators can easily update content; add and remove courseware; and maintain security mechanisms that restrict course access.
•  Improved tracking and reporting for TLC's clients, enabling them to monitor their return on investment.
•  A comprehensive course-evaluation mechanism that provides TLC with a steady flow of current customer information, allowing the company to continually adapt courseware to meet clients' changing needs.

Why xwave?
Along with a relationship of many years, xwave and TLC share a common goal of delivering exceptional web-based communication. xwave understands TLC's specific operational challenges and—as a pioneering developer of Internet technology—has the web experience needed to meet those needs. The company also offers the support of cutting-edge graphic designers whose expertise ensures a site that not only delivers clients' services but also showcases their strengths. xwave is a Microsoft partner on several levels, and uses industry-leading .NET technology in website construction.
